Commissions
A commissioned piece from Kim is built the same way her gallery work is — through color, mood, and energy rather than a literal likeness. Kim works exclusively in abstraction, which means every commission is shaped around your space, story, or feeling, rather than reproducing a photograph or scene. If you’re drawn to her existing work and want a piece sized and toned for your own walls, a commission is the way to get it.
How it works
- Inquiry. Reach out through the button below with your space, size range, color direction, and budget in mind.
- Consultation. Kim will talk through scale, palette, substrate (canvas or paper) and any colors you’d like emphasized or avoided.
- Agreement & deposit. Once the details are set, a simple commission agreement is signed and a 50% deposit begins the work.
- In progress. Kim paints, and shares a photo around the 90% mark for your input. Two small adjustments are included at that stage, at no charge — larger changes are discussed together before moving forward.
- Delivery. The balance is due on completion. The commissioned painting will be mailed in a tube for clients to take to a framer (unless both artist and client agree on an alternative).
Good to know before we start
- Kim works exclusively in abstract painting — this commission will be an original abstract work built from color, mood, and energy, with a photo sent to the client at the 90% finished mark to inquire about small changes needed. Client will be able to choose from two alternatives created in the same color scheme.
- A 50% deposit required to begin work with balance due upon completion.
- If the Customer cancels before painting has begun, the deposit is refunded in full, less a $100.00 non-refundable booking fee.
- If the Customer cancels after painting has begun but before completion, 50% of the deposit is refunded.
- If the Customer cancels at or near completion, the deposit is non-refundable. In all cases, the Artist retains the right to complete and sell the artwork to another party.
- Upon completion, the Artist will supply images of the finished work for approval prior to varnishing/shipping.
- Two (2) small changes are offered free of charge — limited to minor adjustments discussed with and agreed to by the Artist in advance. Requests beyond this will not be considered. The Customer will be notified of a revised completion date if changes are requested.
Pricing & Cancellations
Commission pricing is based on size and complexity, following the same per-square-inch approach used for Kim’s gallery pieces, plus a shipping/framing estimate provided during your consultation.
Plans change — if you need to cancel before painting has begun, your deposit is refunded, less a small non-refundable booking fee. If you cancel after painting is underway, half of the deposit is refunded. Full details are in the commission agreement.
